500g of rock from the Antrim Shale Formation of Southeast Michigan, USA. Collected from glacial till, I identified it as Antrim by looking at outcrops of the shale up north, and getting the Fammenian date by the presence of Protosalvinia plant fossils in the shale. The rock also contains abundant prasinophyte algae cysts, foraminifers, ostracods, fish teeth, fragmented conodonts, and crustacean fragments. They are best extracted using the solvent method, preferably kerosene. Time consuming to process, but one of my richest samples!
