    Description

Up for sale is this well shaped Coprolite or Pseudo-Coprolite from the Wilkes Formation in SW Washington State.
The origin of these specimens is disputed. Some scientific studies conclude that they are fossilized droppings of a prehistoric animal, small lizard-sized reptiles or inland ancient turtles that wandered in what is now
    SW Washington
5 to 10 million years ago. After deposition the organic material was converted into iron carbonate over a period of thousands of years. Other scientists dispute those claims and state that they are pseudo coprolites or pseudo fossils of volcanic origin.
This specimen weighs 8-3/4 ounces and measures 3-1/2” long 2-1/4” wide and 1-1/4” in depth.
