A one of a kind original work by famed glass artist Sven Palmqvist for Orrefors . This work was commissioned by the Chivas Regal Fine Art Series and was used in Chivas Regal print ads in 1960. An intricately engraved scene of Robert the Bruce and his retinue, executed on a heavy, thick, clear Orrefors crystal rectangular vase. The vase meaures approximately 11 3/4" tall by 9" across by 4 1/8" deep. The crystal is 1/4" thick and somewhat thicker at the base. The vase weighs over 10 1/2lbs. Overall condition is fair. There is a chip on the right side near the top edge. There are a few fleabites on the front left and right edges which can be felt but not seen. There is one area on the engraving that has been effected possibly by oil with one spot having what looks to be slight crackling under magnification. There is wear and scratching to the bottom of the vase commensurate with age and use. The bottom of the engraving reads: ORREFORS  SWEDEN JUNE 1959 SVEN PALMQVIST DTESSNER. The Chivas Regal ad from 1960 featuring the vase states: From Sven Palmqvist intrepretation of Robert the Bruce, Orrefors Sweden Crystal was commissioned to engrave this 12 inch vase for the Chivas Regal Fine Art Series.
