Marines from the 1st Battalion, 3d Marines disembark from U.S. Air Force C-130 transports at the Da Nang Airbase on March 8, 1965. The airlift of the battalion was held up for 24 hours shortly after these Marines arrived.
Photo shows a U.S. Air Force Lockheed C-130B/E Hercules aircraft passing low over the drop zone to deliver a pallet of supplies to ground the US Marines in that forward area.
